Informations

D-dimer is a degradation product of crosslinked fibrin (XL-FDP) by plasmin, the main clot lysis enzyme. These are small fragments of cross-linked fibrin circulating in the blood, markers of fibrinolysis.
Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism (PE), presents a high D-dimer level with suspicion of the presence of a clot.
